Dorothy Beattie


A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Dorothy Beattie inaugurated a national career in 1946 playing in the touring company of Raymond Scott's musical, "Lute Song." Later in the year, she played in the National Theater's 1946 touring production of "Charley's Aunt." After extensively touring in that play, she signed onto the 1948 Boston revival of George M. Cohan's "Seven Keys to Baldpate," and in the 1948 hit, "Edward, my Son." David S. Shields/ALS
