Virginia Bacon


The niece of actor Frank "Lightnin'" Bacon, dancer Virginia Bacon was trained by Broadway choreographer Ned Wayburn. He made her the star of his first "Variety Show" in 1925. She went immediately into vaudeville, teaming with Eugene Jenkins and backed by a quartet of girl hoofers and tuxedoes. Her motto: "Beautiful Girls and Something Different in Dance." Even after the collapse of vaudeville, her mini-revue found welcome as a between the movies entre act entertainment well into the 1930s. David S. Shields/ALS
